Civil engineering is the oldest branch among all engineering branches. The course "Chemistry for Civil Engineering" is a subject named as "basic formation" that is tougth during the firts semester of the Civil Engineering Degree. As every subject in the first semester there is no pre-requisite for this course. All the tasks proposed are focused to give the students a basic scietific-technical background, that would be useful and necessary for the success in the rest of the courses of the degree, since in this subject the student will get the tools necessary for the understanding of highly relevant issues in teh field of the Civil Engineering. Credits ECTS: As every subject in the first semester there is no pre-requisite for this course. Its origin dates back to several centuries ago. e) Know and understand how does the chemical composition affect the micro and macroscopic properties of the materials, and as a consequence the possible application of the materials.f) Know and understand the possible mechanisms of air pollution, related with the Civil Engineering, and the different methods to minimize the environmental impact of any activity.g) Every student should learn the chemical processes related with the water pollution, as well as the basics of the waste water treatment. d) the students should understand and learns the thermodynamic and kinetic basics that will condition the development of the different reactions related to the Civil Eng. informacio@ua.es, FUNDAMENTALS OF CHEMISTRY IN CIVIL ENGINEERING, Sound and Specific objectives stated by the academic staff for academic year 2017-18. GARCES TERRADILLOS, PEDRO i) Be able to organize a technical laboratory report, clearly written, and should be able to extract in a reasoned way the main conclusions from the obtained data.j) After finishing the subject students should have improve their skills in group working, as well as for the public presentations of the works assigned to them. Some of the earliest structures that were built include the pyramid, temples, houses and irrigation projects. In the study of advanced chemistry, the civil engineering majors experience the connection of chemistry and their major which urge the students to understand, analyze and solve problems from different angles, cultivate the students’ sense of participation, decision-making ability, scientific and humanistic spirit so as to improve their comprehensive ability. Theory lessons, group tutorship and laboratory practice.
